Fifteen freshmen in the Students of Promise program met with Channel 5 News Anchor Danita Harris on March 30 to hear about her journey to success. “I also talked about what it takes to be successful,” she said.

“Hard work, resiliency and self-discipline are at the core of everyone’s success story.”

Students of Promise with Linkages Program Manager Bob Ivory, Heights High Principal Zoraba Ross, Danita Harris and Erin Mims.

She also talked about how every successful person has failed – many times. She gave several examples from her own life about failure and re-focusing her direction.

The Students of Promise program is for freshmen students that encourages and supports students to set goals and focus on graduation and school success. The program includes a three week Summer Bridge experience for incoming freshmen that focuses on life skills necessary to succeed in high school.

Erin Mims is the Linkage Coordinator for the Students of Promise Program. Bob Ivory, is the Linkages Program Manager.
